An ISO 9001:2008 Certified Company, Certificate No. A-702.
By selecting this employee as LIB “Sighted
Employee of the Year” we honor a person with
high levels of dependability, independence,
judgment and perhaps most importantly, a good
friend.
Since joining LIB as a Quality Auditor and
Inspector in 2002, Glenda Grant has taken on
additional responsibilities as a Utility Operator in
the Textile/Sewing department. Not only is she
exceptionally skilled working on her day to day
duties, but our sighted worker cheerfully accepts
any job assignment whenever asked. As a matter
of fact, Glenda has recently learned new skills on
Maintenance Cases and Canteen Covers. She also
helps to sew samples and prototypes for
commercial items. In summary, our “Sighted
Employee of the Year” makes every effort assuring
her work is accurate and thorough on any task she
performs.
One factor always important in being selected is
whether or not the employee has earned the trust
and respect of their co-workers. Glenda can often
be seen giving aid to a visually impaired employee
who has lost their way or needs her assistance.
Also, when she is not seen being cheerful or
laughing and joking with their fellow employees,
Glenda can be seen lending a friendly, sincere and
understanding voice to whomever needs either
sound advice or a gentle understanding of her
coworker’s concerns.
Please join us in celebrating Glenda Grant as Lions
Industries’ 2012 “Sighted Employee of the Year”.
Since joining LIB in 2008, Kyle Barber has
mastered several jobs at LIB, including those in
other departments outside of Military Embroidery.
He has also worked very hard to learn in detail any
new job that he has taken on.
One of the other areas that help in determining a
finalist for “Blind Employee of the Year” is the
extra activities that they participate in.
Over the last year, as LIB implemented its ISO
Quality Management System, Kyle volunteered
and became a key member of the Quality Auditor
team and also gained a clear understanding of the
company’s systems. He has served on the
Employee Advisory Committee as well as the LIB
Safety Committee. As we all can see this person
loves being challenged as well as being given a
leadership role in the workplace.
Although it is very important to highlight the
contributions that this person makes in the
workplace it is also important to highlight the kind
of person this employee is.
Our “Blind Employee of the Year” is a person who
speaks their mind and stands up for what they
believe in and what is right. But behind a
sometimes seemingly tough exterior lies someone
with a big heart. Kindness and generosity are also
qualities that this employee possesses. In short,
this person is known to be a loyal friend and true
family member.
Our fellow employee is someone who loves
computers and electronics. Kyle is known by all
for his passion and devotion to East Carolina
University both in sports as well as an academic
institution.
Please join LIB in our congratulations to Kyle
Barber as the “2012 Blind Employee” of the year.
